Chinese New Year Open House

We attended our favourite annual CNY Open House this year at The Playschool. As usual, the event is children-friendly; and everyone enjoyed the lion dance performance.

This year, being our 4th time, we got smart through past experience. We arrived at 10 am in time for some fun activities just at the commencement of children's dance performance. We also stood in the shade instead of sitting in the sun to bake and peel.

The Other Half also has his iPhone camera ready at a spot right in front of the poles of the lion dance performance. By the time the performances started,
I was busy peeling mandarin oranges that the lions have been shoving into our hands *teehee* kids had a good time eating those "gold nuggets".

For what is left of the spring celebrations,
we would like to wish you a blessed and prosperous year, again. Happy Chap Goh Meh!

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes.

Your hand in friendship, love as family, compassion as virtual friends, kind non-judgmental comments and generosity as team mates are all greatly appreciated. I am blessed, truly.

May Allah swt bless us all with good health, happiness and ease in this Life and Afterlife. Amin.

Our 14 February Story

The Other Half proposed in 2009.

I said, "Yes."

The rest is good history.

We now have a love story to tell our children although we do not celebrate this occasion.

It is an easy anniversary to remember, bravo to The Other Half.

So, tell me, my lovelies: what is your 14 February story? I am eager to learn!

Double Check

Yes, we do go through Girl's work from school, line by line, page by page - when we can.

Teachers are human too, and I totally do not fault her English teacher for this oversight. In fact, the teacher in question apologized profusely when this was first communicated. Bless her sweet soul.

Girl, she had to do her correction work from Mummy dearest, yes. She learnt:
1. Her work is her own responsibility and accountability.
2. Wrong is wrong, even when it is not noticed.
3. Remedial work or correction is for her own learning and growing benefit, no one else.

Tough love, baby.

Homework Momster

When Girl puts her mind and will to it, she can easily ace her homework within the time-frame assigned.

The challenge is...

... she drives me bonkers with her newly-acquired procrastination talent.

"After I shower."

"After I eat my snack."

"After I have my dinner."

"After I shower."

"After my supper."

By then, she would be so tired and ought to be in bed. Instead, with watery sleepy eyes, she would plough through spelling, Mathematics, Mandarin and other pieces of work.

May Allah swt drive the lazy bones away from Girl. Amin.

Filtered Messages

Have you ever checked or read any of the messages that were directed into your filtered messages via Messenger?

By chance, I found mine this morning.
Some were funny, but mostly predatory. It could have caused me so much misery had they not been filtered!

Learning from this encounter, I better prepare myself to protect my little ones from online presence as much as possible, which is quite hard considering how much presence there already is.

Time to brush up on my parenting skills to impart streetwise skills when they eventually grow up to have an online presence.

Wish me luck, my lovelies! Please leave your kind suggestions and reference materials if possible. Thank you.

Road To Recovery: Flu and Cough

No antibiotics, no anti-histamines. Even I find this to be incredibly fantastic!

I am now totally confident water containing high molecular hydrogen dissolution is the way to treat my flu and cough naturally. It is a natural anti-histamine, besides its many other lauded healing benefits.

When I did feel the sore-throat and occasional itchy, dry cough, I chewed and swallowed 3 capsules of Super Lutein every time I needed some relief. No Strepsils, no Woods Cough Syrup.

Total time it took me to heal: less than 10 days. Previously with medication from the hospital, it took me much, much longer than 14 days. Sometimes, it mutates into something else for myself, or end up being passed to other members of my family.

This time, even The Other Half recovered using the same dosage of Izumio (between 3-6 packets per 24 hours) and Super Lutein (chew 3 capsules every four hours or when necessary) without incurring the dreaded hospital bill.

Syukur alhamdulillah!

We can now eat our mandarin oranges without fear of sore-throat and phlegm. Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Please Whatsapp +0126017907 or email hannah(dot)zulkifli(at)gmail(dot)com for more details about Izumio and Super Lutein. Thank you.

Reversion Anniversary

Yesterday, 7 February, marked my 7th year as a revert.

I did not actively inform anyone after what happened in 2014 which hurt a lot. Since then, I have forgiven the aggressor and only ask Allah swt to forgive me for my smallness before Him. My heart has healed by letting go completely.

Surprisingly, some business partners happily wished me throughout the day so it was filled with a lot of positive thoughts and kindness. Syukur alhamdulillah for The A-Team!

Equally, some acquaintances who mistakenly thought I had forsaken my own roots for Islam came to know that my parents have passed away some time ago. Finally they understand why I do not have photos of my late parents with my children. No hard feelings, but it was awkward to think they presumed that for 7 years without asking me; and speculated their own mistaken conclusions. Malu bertanya sesat jalan, much. the irony on top of this incident is that they are the very people who told me in 2008/9 that if my intention to revert is sincere, it will be obvious in time to come. Best to leave the conversation hanging than provoking shame or embarrassment, I let it go too.

Syukur alhamdulillah for the journey so far. May Allah swt help me perfect my worship of Him. Please make my journey easy. Amin.

Gong Xi Fa Cai 2016

Salam, my lovelies!

How the week has flown me by, I have no  idea. One reunion after another, here we are. At the brink of another lunar new year. My little family and I are excited to visit some friends again soon, after not seeing some of them for a year or even more.

Here is wishing you and yours a very blessed year ahead. Happy holidays, safe travels and everything in moderation.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Passive Income

Money Mastery Course in August 1998 stays fresh in my mind. 17 years ago. Wow.

I was a fresh graduate then, and needed to learn concept of money, investment and correct my "lack of" relationship with money. Freshly-minted off law school with the ink on my scroll barely dried. I thought: why not? Learn a new skill, right?

It was from intensive 3D/2N boot camp where I met financial mentors, investment angels and learnt to network. I am sure if I were to attend another session, I will gain differently fhis time.

Perhaps I felt confident in my early twenties to brace the workforce and was offered an attractive position in an oil and gas MNC. I practiced what I learnt: Money from salary is to be budgeted - paying self first via savings both statutorily and self-imposed. There were months when I totally fell off my savings route due un-budgeted purchases (big boo boo!), which yuppie had not, right?

When I was behaving, I scouted for investment options with mutual funds to spread my risk. It was a quarterly auto-invest mechanism with Public Mutual Fund and EPF so I was happy to chug along without having to keep an eye on the Bursa closely. I now no longer keep this due to syariah compliance issues but can actually choose a syariah-compliant fund if I so wish.

During the same period, I was advised to commence my health insurance which at that young and healthy state gave great coverage at fairly low premium. This was on top of the great coverage already given by the oil and gas MNC. No regrets, because when I eventually switched MNCs, I kept my own policies intact. They came in very handy!

Something I wished I could sustain was of course passive income from multiple sources. This is where I failed previously.

The fabulous career at oil and gas MNC got too comfortable. I was in my comfort zone and spent so much time working and traveling the world that I overlooked my multiple sources of passive income.

I dabbled with Neways for a very short period. The bonus and reward system was complex and it was hard to share information with peers at that time because they were still in universities all over the world. Excuses, right? If I really wanted to, I could have, right?

Then I met some wonderful top achievers  in Amway who kept fishing me but there were moratorium clauses in my employment contract which I had to honour. The rah-rah parties got on my nerves too, no offence.

I wanted to invest in a student flat to be rented out, but the desire for some frivolous designer bags and shoes got the better of me. I was that annoying "Gucci-rich, investment-poor" pitiful lady in her 20s *smacks self* please do not repeat this mistake, learn from mine!

Here we are.

Not too bad shape BUT I can do so much more to be a good example to my children.

They see how keen I am on now on the Naturally Plus business because it is that jigsaw piece that completes my search for passive income puzzle. Going around sharing the benefits of hydrogen water and carotenoids sit so well with me and my circle of friends because we all aim to be healthy and happy anyways.

My children and husband get to spend the same amount of quality time with me, still. I work for and pray I will be granted a comfortable amount of passive income so that we can achieve more as a family: be it our sedekah, zakat or simply an extra fabulous family holiday destination of choice.

Financial freedom, is liberating. Indeed, when Allah swt blesses us with more, we can raise our standard of giving.

Now, I get it.

Super Lutein In Skegness

One of my childhood friends is now living in Skegness, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, with her lovely husband.

On the day that she got married, I was not able to attend the grand temple wedding in Penang (although my family and I were at Penang that time) due to a few limiting factors at that point of time. Read: 2 young children under the age of 5 for a temple wedding at 7pm which is bedtime for the little ones.

Luckily for us, Facebook has kept the friendship bond strong over the many years. Having grown up together from 7-17 and then sporadically meeting throughout our twenties and thirties kept the spark going. With daily Whatsapp, it is as if she is not that far away!

One of the topics we had gotten round to discuss recently is our overall immunity and wellness. One thing led to another and next thing you know, she is embarking on a healing journey using Izumio hydrogen water and nutrition in Super Lutein too!

Last week, she received her first 6 bottles of Super Lutein.

Happy healing, my lovely Sujatha. May Allah swt bless you abundantly and make your healing crisis a walk in the park. Amin.
